What items or activities most effect the cost of website design and development?

Good question! This info will help you whether you choose People Burst or not. Here are the highest cost variables in any website development project:

  1. The size of your website. Is it 3 pages or 10 pages? Are there multiple levels of linking between pages?
  2. Graphics. Do you have web-ready graphics and can you deliver them to the web developer by electronic means? Do you need custom graphic work done (logos, web header designs, image manipulation and clean-up)?
  3. Template or Original Design. Using a template allows your cost to stay much lower. Templates can be customized but in general with a template you should be happy with the overall structure and layout (2 columns, one column, space for images or slideshows, look & function of the menu, etc.). Original designs require a lot of graphic and web coding work, and consequently cost much more. In general, it will cost you at least 3x more for an original design over a template.
  4. Specialized Needs for Online Business. Do you need e-commerce, catalogs or a payment gateway … or the ability to add a storefront later? Do you need databases and reports from those databases? Do you have need for password protection or event registration? Do you have need to change web information? Are you anticipating a download section to your website? Do you want to collect information about visitors to your site? Do you need integration with a software package important to your business?
  5. Content. Have you got the content you will use in a readable format, ready for print? Do you need editing or writing of copy?
  6. Decisions. Do you have a point of contact person able to make concrete web decisions? If yes, time will reduce. If no, you’ll find it difficult to proceed, and most likely there will be work stoppage at some point.
  7. Maintenance. Do you have someone capable (i.e. they know how to sign-into web accounts and don’t usually get lost finding information on the web) of maintaining your website?

Do you provide a guarantee or warranty of the service to our company?

Yes. The particular terms of the satisfaction guarantee will be written into your estimate of work. In general, every project has several mid-point “sign-offs” where you say, “yes, this is good and what I wanted.” We gather input from you all along the way as a part of our normal communication process.

Each phase has time deadlines clearly written in our statement of work and we guarantee those deadlines as written. We provide a warranty of work within that same statement of work.

Our aim is to make you more than satisfied and therefore we don’t wait until the end, and “just hope” you are happy!

Why should we choose People Burst over company XYZ?

There are many reputable companies and we’re one of the hardest working companies out there. What sets us apart is our work ethic and our level of follow-up and care.

Work Ethic. Think “1950′s.” We work long hours. We hold you in high regard and do not take it lightly that you would trust us with your business. We believe it’s “our job” to help you the most we can, giving you real value rather than empty words. And, you will always be treated with the utmost of respect and honesty.

Level of Follow-Up and Care. For websites, most companies drop you at the door and lock it – once your website is delivered to you. We go the extra mile. We want to make sure it’s still working in a week! And we’ll help you get it uploaded and performing like a race engine. Additionally, we’ll provide you with a back-up system and an initial back-up copy of your website. And, if you need something changed in a year, we’ll still be here to help – with instructions or an extra work order to tweak it a bit.

For other services, we check in with you to make sure the job we did worked the best it could for your situation. And from time to time, we check in to see how your business is progressing – because once a customer, always a friend.

Our mailing address is: People Burst, 1001 Fell St., Baltimore, MD 21231.

Can you come on-site to give me computer training?

We are available for basic computer training on-site in the greater Baltimore and Washington, D.C. area. We will ask you a few questions about your needs and prepare a cost estimate with an outline of what we can do to help you. Sometimes having a “real person” one-on-one to show you the ropes is just what you need!

Can I hire you to teach my parents about their computer?

Your parents may need some basic instruction in maintaining and operating their computer. We can help you, if they live in the Baltimore/Washington metro area or the Northern Virginia area for an on-site visit! A few other sites may be available. There is a travel fee of $50 per visit, and the usual cost rate is $35 per hour, for basic instruction.
